Dual-SIM Dual-Standby allows consumers to use two SIM cards in one handset simultaneously, enabling use of the lowest rate or best coverage network wherever they are. In countries such as China and India, the Dual-SIM Dual-Standby functionality allows mobile phone users to avoid paying extra fees when roaming between regions.
The requirement to easily make or receive calls over two different networks or via two different subscriptions is fast rising in many markets. Strategy Analytics forecasts that 206 million Dual-SIM Dual-Standby handsets will be sold worldwide in 2014, compared with 41 million in 2010.
A Dual-SIM Dual-Standby handset can be idle simultaneously on two different networks or on two different subscriptions on the same network. When one SIM is on a call or a data session the other SIM is not reachable.

All Dual-SIM Dual-Standby enabled-platforms are designed to allow either SIM card to be used for voice calls, emails, messages, web browsing, social networking and instant messaging.
